Americans Are Ready To Cut The Cord On Their Wireless Carriers.

The opportunity to dial up a new provider without losing their wireless number is an appealing option for American cell phone owners as almost one in three (31%) say they are likely to switch carriers once their contract is up. A recent survey of 600 American cell phone users, conducted by professional online market research firm InsightExpress, found three in five Americans (59%) are aware of the November 24th portability law, which allows wireless customers to take their number from one provider to another.

Traditional landline phone providers may also find themselves engaged in the impending wireless war, as nearly one in five Americans (18%) say that they are likely to switch their current landline phone number to a wireless plan, making their cell their primary communications device.

While Americans may be preparing to disconnect from their current cell provider, certain carriers may find their number ringing more than others on November 24th.

“In addition to understanding the impact of a carrier’s brand in the purchase decision, marketers need to understand which features and combinations are most valuable to consumers,” said Lee Smith, president and COO of InsightExpress. “In this competitive industry, delivering product features precisely reflecting consumer preferences is critical to acquiring new customers-and retaining those that a company has fought so hard to acquire.”
