Telemundo’s Executive Vice President of Programming and Production, Ramón Escobar, announced some organizational changes that will maximize the network’s recruitment, training, and relationships with talent; and bring an enhanced focus to daytime programming.
Jose Perez is joining Telemundo as SVP, Daytime Entertainment Programming. He comes to Telemundo from Maximum Capacity Entertainment, a TV & Film development company for the U.S. Hispanic market, where he was President. Prior to owning his own company, Jose was VP, Entertainment and Program Development for Univision. In this newly created position at Telemundo, Jose will develop strategy and criteria for the selection of programs, hire and supervise Executive Producers, work closely with talent, and he will collaborate with the SVP Marketing and Promotions, Michelle Bella, to develop a daytime promotional strategy.
Escobar was also announced that Emilce Elgarresta will take on the role as SVP, Entertainment Specials. Emilce will focus on further developing their successful ‘Specials’ franchise.
Ximena Herreria will assume a newly created position as VP, Talent Development. In this role as head of the Telemundo’s Entertainment Talent group, she will be responsible for leading the talent recruitment and development process including establishing a program to scout and develop Hispanic talent in the United States, and enhance outreach to maintain relationships with talent. She will also oversee the music talent development team. Johnny Rojas and Maggie Van de Water will report to Ximena and remain in their current roles. Ximena comes to Telemundo from NBC4 in New York where she was Director, NBC Americas.
“These new additions to our programming team will help us build on our momentum and successful strategy of original productions for the U.S. Hispanic audience,” said Escobar.
