Figueroa – Project Manager @ Scholastic Entertainment’s ‘The Misadventures of Maya & Miguel’.

Arminda Figueroa has been named the Project Director for Scholastic Entertainment’s The Misadventures of Maya and Miguel, a multi-cultural, multi-media initiative for children that has at its core a new animated series set to air on PBS KIDS in fall 2004. Scholastic Entertainment was awarded the largest single grant ever given by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to develop a children’s multi-media project. This grant, combined with the “All America’s Kids Multi-Media Programming Initiative” grant from PBS with crucial monies provided by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE), brings the total funding for The Misadventures of Maya and Miguel initiative to $14 million.

As project director, Mindy will be responsible for all aspects of project management, from series launch and promotion to supervision of synergistic marketing, trade and consumer marketing, outreach, partnerships with the Latino community and cause-related marketing activity, and will act as the key liaison with the Hispanic Caucus and Capitol Hill. In addition, she will work with the Public Television Minority Consortia, whose mission is to increase the diversity of programming offered to the American public via public television.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Mindy’s expertise in multi-cultural marketing join the Maya and Miguel team,” said Deborah Forte, President of Scholastic Entertainment. “She will be key to furthering the mission of this initiative, which is to foster an appreciation for cultural diversity and encourage English language learning and communication, particularly among Latinos.”

Most recently, Mindy served as account director at the Bravo Group, a Young & Rubicam Agency, where she lead a team of eight managing AT&T, the company’s top account, and The New York Times.
