Premios Fox Sports Awards To Honor Achievement Of U.S. Hispanic & LatAM Athletes.

Fox Pan American Sports LLC, one of the world’s largest Spanish-language sports television companies, announced today that it will honor the achievements of U.S. Hispanic and Latin American athletes at a newly created annual awards show, Premios Fox Sports. The inaugural Premios Fox Sports will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 in Miami, and will honor top athletes in a variety of sports, including soccer, baseball, motor sports, tennis and golf. Special awards will be given in recognition of top athletic achievements and contributions to the sports world during 2003.
The growing presence of Latinos in sports has bolstered their visibility internationally, as and they continue to achieve significant milestones. Latino baseball players in Major League Baseball now number 195 and represent more than 23.5% of the big league’s leagues’ rosters. The auto racing world features six Mexican drivers competing in this season’s Champ Car World Series, while earlier this month, the LPGA announced that named Mexican golfer Lorena Ochoa clinched the Rolex Rookie of the Year Award for 2003.
“With the growing prominence of Hispanic athletes in all sports, this newly created awards show will celebrate give proper recognition to their achievements,” said David Sternberg, Senior Vice President, Network Operations and Business Development, Fox Sports InternationalGeneral Manager of Fox Sports Latin America and Fox Sports en Español. “We look forward to the celebration in Miami and are greatly appreciative of grateful to our telecast sponsors, marketing partners, presenters and performers for supporting these athletes and making this event possible.”
The awards show will be televised on Sunday, December 21 and reach more than 17 million households across the Americas. Fox Sports en Español is televising the awards show nationally in the United States, and while Fox Sports Latin America will air it throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Sponsors of the inaugural Premios Fox Sports include General Motors, Sears, Johnnie Walker, Miller Beer, Konica, Adidas, American Airlines, McDonald’s and Pennzoil.

12.Most outstanding boxer of the year
