Jennifer Lopez To Produce Syndicated Ensemble Talk Show.
September 27, 2003
Universal Domestic Television will team with Jennifer Lopez’ Nuyorican production banner for a daily, one-hour first-run ensemble talk show geared toward younger women in fall 2004. Nuyorican’s Julio Caro will also produce. The series, co-hosted by Lopez’ sister, versatile television and radio personality Lynda Lopez, will bring to syndication the attitude, brand and star power of the incredibly popular, multi-talented actress, performer and business woman.
UDT President Steve Rosenberg and Lisa Hackner, executive vice president of programming and development, made the announcement.
The show will be a one-stop source for the very latest on pop culture, news, lifestyle, celebrities, beauty and fashion. It will reflect the passion and energy women have come to associate with Lopez, whose name has become a highly marketable brand behind a string of successful business ventures. Casting is underway to round out the panel of four women, who will share their strong views on the day-and-date program. Celebrity guests who have a vested interest in the topics of the day will also weigh in with their opinions.
“This show will be a natural extension of the dynamic brand created by Jennifer Lopez,” Hackner said. “It will convey the same sense of enthusiasm, humor, determination and smarts that took Jennifer to the top of the entertainment world.
“It will really reflect the opinions, experiences and attitudes of younger women — something that is missing from the marketplace today — and be a destination for a new generation. The daytime audience will relate to our panelists, chosen because they are likeable, intriguing, opinionated and representative of a diverse group of viewers.”
Said Lopez, “At Nuyorican, our goal from the onset was to produce good, quality material that would appeal to a broad audience. A talk show hosted by a group of smart women with diverse opinions and varied interests is tremendously exciting. We are going to have a lot of fun!”
“The low-key, yet personable and relatable hosts will make for excellent television. We could not be more thrilled,” Caro said. Lynda Lopez, a fixture on the New York media scene, brings an impressive list of TV entertainment and features credentials to her new co-hosting role.
Beginning Oct. 20, Lopez will be a features correspondent for WCBS-TV, New York, covering such topics as fashion, celebrity news and pop culture trends. Earlier, she was the entertainment reporter at WNBC-TV, New York, filing reports for NBC — and Telemundo — owned stations around the country, as well as NBC’s cable networks.
Additionally, Lopez continues to serve as an entertainment reporter for “E! News Live;” has provided color commentary for the “Miss America” pageant; and has hosted Glow, and a beauty themed series for E!’s Style network.
