StarMedia Launches Xtream Ad Plus.
June 7, 2003
StarMedia announced it is continuing to upgrade its site by launching a proprietary new service called Xtream Ad which lets advertisers run full-length video/audio commercials via the web. In addition, the portal is increasing email capacity at no charge for its US Hispanic subscribers to 10 megabytes, approximately two to five times the average web service. Harry Neuhaus, vice president of sales, StarMedia, made the announcement.
“Our goal is to keep offering clients new, effective advertising opportunities. Xtream Ad removes another stumbling block for clients who sometimes lack online creative, now they can take their TV and radio ads and use it on the web without modification, increasing production cost efficiencies and maximizing their online investment,” said Neuhaus. “In addition, by offering the best community services like expanded email at no charge to registered subscribers, we can offer clients a loyal advertising base that is receptive to their messages.”
Xtream Ad was created by StarMedia to be compatible with the industry’s standard advertising servers including DART and ENGAGE. The service runs utilizing broadband or dial-up and is customizable to a client’s specifications. For instance, a client can select whether his ad airs as a pop-under, full window or layer.
StarMedia will offer the improved email service at no charge to US Hispanic subscribers. Users can now send and receive multiple photos or documents without fear of a “failure to deliver” or “insufficient memory” message that they get with other services.
