Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation announced Joe Cruz as Vice President and General Manager of its subsidiary, HBC Sacramento, Inc. in Sacramento, California. HBC’s move into the Jackson, Sacramento and surrounding communities, will be
marked by the launch of KNTG(FM) 94.3, and Cruz will be responsible for all aspects of sales, operations, station format and personnel for the market.

Gary Stone, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of HBC, said of the Cruz announcement, “I am very pleased that Joe Cruz has joined our Company. Joe’s experience in broadcasting, and as a resident of Sacramento since 1995, will help HBC to build a broadcast facility that the entire Sacramento Metropolitan area will be proud of for years to come.”

Cruz began his broadcasting career in sales at WXTV, a Spanish International Network station, serving the New York Metropolitan area, and later joined KDTV in San Francisco. Cruz worked in the general market at KPIX TV (CBS) Westinghouse in San Francisco, selling NFL San Francisco 49ers football packages and other sports and spot packages. In 1987 Cruz became the General Sales Manager of KSTS and Telemundo Northern California serving the San Francisco TV market and he brought the station’s revenue share to an impressive 48%. While at Telemundo, he was promoted to Station Manager of KVEA in Glendale, California, and a year later was promoted to General Manager of KSTS in San Jose, California. In 1995 he joined Salem Communications in Sacramento, as General Manager. There he developed three radio stations, two of which he brought to a 1.6 power ratio in 2002.

In joining Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation, Cruz says, “I am thrilled to be part of the HBC team. HBC has a great vision and is in the forefront of the Spanish-language radio community. I plan to contribute to the company’s success in Sacramento through HBC’s newest radio station, KNGT(FM) 94.3.”
