LATV Wins Imagen Award.

LATV, a Los Angeles-based broadcast, cable and Direct-To-Home network, announced that it had been named the winner of the 2002 Imagen Award for Best Variety or Musical Special. The program, “LATV Live! Two-Year Anniversary Special” was selected by the annual awards event committee that spotlights projects portraying Latinos in a positive light. Winners were announced last night, Thursday, May 29, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

“Winning the Imagen Award among such formidable competition validates all our efforts to create a new kind of programming that reflects today’s Latino experience as part a mainstream America,” said Daniel Crowe, president, LATV. “In just two short years, LATV has established itself as the up-and-coming network that represents the bilingual and English-speaking Hispanic American.”

Other nominees for the 2003 Best Variety or Music Special award include John Leguizamo’s “Sexaholix-A Love Story” and the “16th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards.” The Imagen Foundation, sponsors of the annual Imagen Awards, is a non-profit organization that encourages the positive portrayal of Latinos and the Latino culture in the media.
