Diversity Experts To Meet In New York May 20-21, 2003.

Diversity experts and business leaders from pace-setting companies will meet in New York in May to address diversity in the context of the marketplace, talent and organizational effectiveness.

The Conference Board’s 2003 Annual Diversity Conference — Diversity Leadership: Enhancing Business Performance by Building Upon Diverse Talent to Effectively Bridge the Workplace and the Marketplace — will be held May 20-21 at the Marriott Financial Center in New York, and June 10-11 at the Westin Chicago River North in Chicago. The meetings are being presented with assistance from IBM, Pitney Bowes, Pepsi, The Pepsi Bottling Group, Deloitte & Touche and Prism International.

The opening session, “Diversity Leadership: Enhancing Business Performance by Bridging the Workplace and the Marketplace with Diverse Talent and Partnerships” will feature J.T. Childs, Jr., Vice President, Workforce Diversity, IBM, Ronald E. Harrison, Senior Vice President, Global Diversity and Community Affairs, PepsiCo, and Rachel Cheeks, Manager of Global
Diveristy, PepsiCo.

“Taking It To the Streets: Serving, Selling and Relating to Diverse Customers in Real Time” will be addressed by Carole Jackson, Vice President, External Affairs, Diversity and Vendor Development, Macys West, and Kevin L. Clayton, Vice President of Diversity, Russell Corporation.

“Building Your Dream Team: The People and Organizations You Need Outside Who Will Help You Succeed” will be examined Susan Phillps Bari, President, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, and Sylvia Allen, Director, Worldwide Diversity and Ethics, Cisco Systems, Inc.

“How Are You Regarded? Closing Your Effectiveness Gap” will be explored by Linda Stokes, President and CEO, PRISM International.

“The Generation Gap: Hear From The Source What Employees Really Want” will be explored by Redia Anderson, National Principal, Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives, Deloitte & Touche, and Stan Smith, National Director, Employer of Choice-Next Generation Initiatives, Deloitte & Touche.

“Cream Rises To The Top, or Does It? Overcoming Privilege, Classism, and Other Organizational Barriers to Success and Inclusion” will be presented by Linda Barrington, Ph.D., Economics Program, The Conference Board, and Carole Weinstein, Chief Learner, Learning Works.

“Talent Myths: Reverse Mentoring and Other Innovative Practices for Improving Workforce Development and Engagement” will be addressed by Stephen Young, Senior Vice President, Diversity, JPMorganChase, and Dr. Lydia Mallett, Chief Diversity Officer, General Mills, Inc.

“The Workforce is like a Tossed Salad: Valuing Uniqueness and Differences in Multicultural Workforce — Making Inclusion Work” will be the topic of a panel including Cecilia K. McKenney, Vice President, Headquarters Human Resources, Pepsi Bottling Group, Maurice Cox, Vice President, Corporate Development & Diversity, Pepsi-Cola North America, and Lisa Levey, Director of Advisory Services, Catalyst.
