Ruiz – Sr. VP & GM @ HBO LatAM.
April 12, 2003
Eddy Ruiz has joined HBO Latin America Advertising Services, LLC as Senior Vice President & General Manager.
In his new role, Eddy is responsible for all operations of HBO LAAS. HBO LAAS is the ad sales representative for The Warner Channel Latin America, A&E Mundo and The History Channel Latin America for the territories of the United States, Europe and Asia. Eddy will be based out of the company’s offices at 5201 Blue Lagoon Drive, Suite 200, Miami, Florida.
Prior to joining HBO LAAS, Eddy was president of The Weather Channel International, a position he held since 1997. His career in media and advertising sales includes positions in cable and broadcast television and radio. Eddy will report to the HBO LAAS board of directors.
“We are pleased to welcome Eddy Ruiz to our group as head of the HBO LAAS team. With the combination of excellent products offered by our channels to advertisers and Eddy’s leadership we are very confident of our continued growth in this market and Eddy’s professional growth with our organization”, stated Enrique Cuscó, CEO of the Ole Communications Group and member of the board of directors of the HBO Latin America Group.
“In a market with the characteristics of Latin America – great potential but very under-developed; where relationships are so important and where integrity of information, strategic thinking and customer service are so critical to growing our business, Eddy Ruiz is the guy for the job. It’s one of those great match-ups,” said Whitney Goit, Executive Vice President of A&E Television Networks.
“Pan-regionally, Warner Channel, A&E Mundo and The History Channel are second to none and the addition of such a well-respected executive like Eddy Ruiz, instantly qualifies HBO Latin America Advertising Services as a market leader,” said Steven Rosenberg, president of HBO International and member of the board of directors of the HBO Latin America Group.
Terry O’Neill, interim general manager of HBO LAAS during the search for a permanent GM, will continue with the company as a consultant and in a sales role for certain key markets, including New York. Terry has had a long and successful career with A&E Television Networks, and HBO LAAS acknowledges and thanks Terry for his efforts and willingness to expand his role during the search period. Terry will continue to be based out of New York City.
