Veronica Alvarez has been named Director of Marketing, Fox Sports en Español and Fox Sports World, announced Raúl de Quesada, Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Fox Sports International, to whom she reports. In assuming the new role, Alvarez, will continue to work closely with the senior management of Fox Sports en Español and Fox Sports World on the aggressive development of those services in the U.S. marketplace.
Veronica started her pay television career in 1993 with the launch of the Los Angeles-based Spanish-language sports network, La Cadena Deportiva, in affiliate marketing. She later was part of the marketing team that launched the Prime Deportiva Network, further expanding Spanish-language sports programming across the U.S. and Latin America.
When News Corporation joined forces with Liberty Media to acquire Prime Deportiva in November 1996, Veronica helped to guide the transition of the network brand to Fox Sports Américas, later to become Fox Sports en Español. She has also participated in the marketing and positioning of Fox Sports World since that network’s launch in 1997. Throughout her tenure, Veronica has been a significant contributor to the success of all of Fox Sports International’s channels.

Veronica attended San Diego State University while pursuing a business degree, and later graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. She furthered her studies in sports marketing through a U.C. Berkeley summer program prior to coming to La Cadena Deportiva.
