Univision & TeleFutura Team Up LAPD.

Spanish-speaking residents will now have a direct line of communication with the Los Angeles Police Department via KMEX-TV Univision 34 and Telefutura Channel 46. Both Spanish-language television stations recently announced the formation of a yearlong partnership with LAPD to create “Su Seguro Servidor” (“Your Trusted Servant”), a Spanish-language media campaign designed to provide vital public safety information to the growing Los Angeles Latino community. This week on KMEX-TV’s local morning newscast, the “Su Seguro Servidor” campaign will feature Chief of Police William J. Bratton on Thursday, Feb. 20, in a special live appearance on “Noticias 34: Primera Edicion” from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

“The LAPD is always working towards bridging communication gaps with the community in order to improve service and make our neighborhoods safer. We realize that we cannot do it alone,” commented Chief Bratton. “LAPD commends Univision for offering to launch the `Su Seguro Servidor’ campaign as a means of providing this important line of communication for Spanish-speaking residents in our city while simultaneously helping us deter crime and unlawful activities in Los Angeles.”
KMEX and KFTR General Manager Jorge Delgado added, “KMEX and KFTR realize the need for television stations to form partnerships that can have an important affect and impact on the Los Angeles community. Both of our stations are pleased to be part of helping the LAPD `speak Spanish’ through the `Su Seguro Servidor’ campaign.”

Key components of the “Su Seguro Servidor” campaign include weekly appearances by top brass from LAPD on KMEX-TV’s morning newscast as well as monthly public service announcements airing on both KMEX-TV Univision 34 and sister station, KFTR Telefutura Channel 46. During the live newscast appearances, LAPD officials will discuss current events and public safety issues such as gang and graffiti prevention, neighborhood safety, pedestrian safety, child safety seat and traffic laws, among many other topics.
