McCluskey – Publisher @ AmericaEconomia Magazine.

AmericaEconomia announced the appointment of Ian McCluskey as its new publisher. As part of his plans for 2003, McCluskey will launch a new ranking of the top 100 globally competitive companies in Latin America, in addition to a series of special reports on entrepreneurs in the region and a guide on how Latin American companies can begin doing business in
South Florida. He is also developing a network of alliances with the leading newspapers from the region.

“My first priority is to strengthen the magazine’s presence in the 17 Latin American countries where it circulates as well as in South Florida, a key market for Latin American executives nowadays,” said McCluskey. “We are creating new products that are in line with our mission of offering executives a first-rate publication focused on pan-regional business, a niche where AmericaEconomia has always been a pioneer. I’m a true believer in the magazine’s mission,” added McCluskey.

“Ian McCluskey’s promotion is the result of both his outstanding career as a journalist and of significant achievements in the publishing industry,” said Elias Selman, the magazine’s founder and CEO. “This guarantees growth, development and expansion for the publication.”

McCluskey served as Editor-in-Chief, a responsibility now assumed by Raul Ferro who has been the magazine’s General Editor since 1999. McCluskey joined AmericaEconomia in 1997 as Editor of the Brazilian edition. Previously, he was editorial chief at Bloomberg News in Sao Paulo, a correspondent for Time magazine for five years, and an editor for the political-economic newsletter Brazil Watch. Canadian-born, McCluskey has spent the last 18 years in Latin America. McCluskey graduated in International Relations from the University of Toronto, and got his MBA in International Business from Thunderbird School in Phoenix, Arizona.
