Problems With Arbitron’s Spanish Radio Research Gets Congressional Attention.
January 10, 2003
Arbitron has put forth a plan to create a special research book for Spanish language broadcasters in lieu of not being able to implement language-preference weighting factors until 2006.
Democratic Rep. Bob Melendez has asked the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to open hearings regarding the Spanish language broadcasters concerns with Arbitron’s dominant position in the ratings business and their methods for measuring Hispanic radio listening. It’s expected that after the hearings, The House Commerce Committee will look into discriminatory practices by the research company.
