Mr. Lamar oversees all aspects of national marketing for McDonald’s 13,000 U.S. restaurants. The Urban marketplace comprises a key segment of McDonald’s consumer base. During his keynote address “What It Means To Be a Market Leader in the 21st Century,” Mr. Lamar will discuss McDonald’s multi-cultural marketing strategies, as well as the company’s efforts and successes with Urban radio.

Many other prestigious names in African-American marketing and Urban media are scheduled panelists. Representatives from multi-cultural advertising agencies including Burrell Communications Group, Anderson Communications and StarCom Advertising will speak. Major advertisers including McDonald’s, Blimpies, Toyota, Colgate-Palmolive, Ford and Coca-Cola will share their insights on African-American marketing, and their personal experiences with Urban Radio. Broadcasting sponsors include Cox Radio, Infinity Radio and Radio One, with participation by Cumulus Radio, Emmis Broadcasting and Inner City Broadcasting.

Themes of the conference include the tremendous consumer power of the $646 billion African-American marketplace, the growth potential to companies who actively embrace ethnic-marketing, and the competitive disadvantage for companies who continue to ignore these growing markets.

“We are delighted in the caliber of speakers who enthusiastically agreed to participate in this event,” said Sherman Kizart, VP/Director of Urban Radio for Interep. “Clearly, both advertisers and media decision-makers are in agreement on the importance of multi-cultural marketing in today’s world. This symposium offers an excellent venue to share ideas and adjust our strategies to meet the demands of a changing marketplace.”
