Moreno – VP Regional Mexican Operations @ Universal Music Latino.

Jesus Gilberto Moreno has been named Vice President of Regional Mexican Operations at Universal Music Latino, it was announced today by John Echevarria, President, Universal Music Latino.

Based in Houston, Texas, Mr. Moreno, who will report directly to Mr. Echevarria, will oversee Universal Music Latino’s efforts in the area of Regional Mexican music.

“Gilberto is a music executive with more than 30 years of experience in Regional Mexican music, the most popular form of Latin music in the U.S. His extensive experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow in this important genre. I am proud to have him as a member of our team,” Mr. Echevarria commented.

Mr. Moreno added, “I am very honored to have the opportunity to be a part of Universal Music Latino. I look forward to working with the Universal Latino team and their impressive roster of artists.”

Mr. Moreno joins Universal from his position as President/owner of Musimex L.L.C., which Universal Latino has under license and is in the process of acquiring. His previous music experience includes working for more than 15 years at leading Regional Mexican label Fonovisa Records, where he served as General Manager for five years, as well as various other sales and promotion positions throughout his tenure. During that time, Fonovisa was the biggest independent Latin label in the United States and had the leading market share in Regional Mexican music, surpassing that of any of the majors.

Mr. Moreno began his career in Mexico City as a promoter for Discos Cisne S.A. Throughout his career, he has worked in the development and promotion of numerous artists including Enrique Iglesias, Marco Antonio Solis, Los Temerarios, Conjunto Primavera, Los Tigres del Norte, Banda el Recodo, Noelia, Los Angeles de Charlie, Los Rieleros del Norte, Mojado, Bronco, Menudo, Napoleon, Cristian Castro, Rigo Tovar, Los Yonic’s, Los Huracanes del Norte, among others. The arrangement with Musimex gives Universal Trini y La Leyenda, considered one of the rising stars in the up and coming Tierra Caliente style of Regional Mexican music, as well as Banda Limon, among other artists.
