Acento’s New Headquarters.

Acento is moving to a renovated 1918 building (doubling space of their current location to nearly 11,000 feet) in a prime West Los Angeles address, one of the very few remaining buildings from that era and used as a recording studio during the 40’s and 50’s.

“With new clients such as Albertsons, Sav-on, 21st Century Insurance and Southern California Edison, plus our current clients’ growth, our team has increased in number and our previous office (an award winning creative space) became too limiting,” said Benito Martínez-Creel, founder and CEO of Acento.

María Amparo Escandón, partner of Acento, headed the interior design and construction of the new office, following the philosophy of the new workplaces where people have the flexibility to form teams, or have special spaces and corners for a quiet think. “I see this new space as a setting in which our people will produce outstanding results. I’m mostly interested in creating an environment where everyone will feel better for being there,” said Escandón.

Merging the contemporary California architectural trends with traditional Mexican design, the new Acento headquarters feature, for instance, the Hammock Room, where several original Yucatan hammocks hang from the bow truss roof to provide a setting for informal meetings. Or the Cafetín, a Starbucks-like space with comfortable chairs and Internet access for work outside the personal workstation.

“We’ve also added the features of intelligent buildings; energy conservation, safety, and sophisticated telecom systems,” said Benito Martínez-Creel. With this vision, the new Acento headquarters bring together efficiency, practicality, wit, and total coolness.
