McDonald’s Salutes The Contribution Of Latinos In The World Of Sports.
October 11, 2002
On November 10, 2002, the popular Sunday sports show “Titulares Telemundo” featured a salute presented by McDonald’s honoring the most recognized Mexican player in the National Basketball League (NBA).
Eduardo Najera, a forward with the Dallas Mavericks, dazzled crowds during the last NBA season and contributed greatly to his team reaching the 2002 NBA playoffs. Eduardo Alonso Najera Pérez, born in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico, recently began his third season in NBA with the Mavericks. Najera is not only a basketball player but also a role model to Latino youth who dream to join the ranks of the NBA and see it now as a possibility by seeing Najera on the court.
“Eduardo has demonstrated great talent and ability in a sport that it is not traditionally known for its Latino players,” said Max Gallegos, director of marketing, McDonalds USA. “Having the opportunity to salute him through one of Telemundo’s most watched shows was a natural fit for us in our continuing commitment to salute the best of the Latino spirit.”
Telemundo will air the McDonald’s salute to Eduardo Najera on November 10, 2002 on Titulares Telemundo airing at 12:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. (Eastern and Pacific).
