Dominicci Joins Univision’s Primer Impacto Fin De Semana.

Univision Network’s News Division announced that Primer Impacto Fin de Semana, the weekend edition of its top-rated newsmagazine show, Primer Impacto, will debut a new co-host beginning in November. The person selected to share the spotlight with current anchor Fernando del Rincón is Carmen Dominicci, an accomplished news professional with ample television experience, and winner of two regional Emmy Awards. Dominicci’s first appearance on the show will be on Saturday, November 2. Primer Impacto Fin de Semana airs every Saturday and Sunday, 5-6 p.m./4-5 p.m. Central.

Born in Puerto Rico, Dominicci has a distinguished career in broadcast journalism. Before joining Univision, she was news anchor for Telemundo’s affiliate station in New York City, WAJU Channel 47, where she covered major events for four years, including the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Previously, she was news anchor for the Televicentro network in San Juan Puerto Rico, and prior to that, she worked as a news reporter and co-anchor for TeleOnce network, also in San Juan.

During her years in television news, she has received several awards, including two regional Emmys for Outstanding Single Newscast/Anchor, in 2000 and 2001. In 1999 she won a N.Y. ACE Award for best anchor, was selected by New York’s Diario La Prensa as one of the year’s 50 most influential Hispanic women, and was nominated for another regional Emmy. In 1996 she received a Paoli Award in the Best Soft News Segment category. Dominicci holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism from Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico.

“I’m very excited about joining Primer Impacto, a show that has been a great success for many years, proving that it has a winning formula”, said Dominicci. “After covering regional news for the past seven years, I’m really enthused about the opportunity Primer Impacto Fin de Semana provides me to be involved in a program with national and international reach. I also feel very happy to become a part of such an exceptional group as the Univision News team.”

“We feel that Carmen is the perfect addition to Primer Impacto Fin de Semana, which has become an enormous hit since it began airing in August,” said Maria López-Alvarez, Vice-president and Co-Director, Univision News. “She wonderfully complements Fernando del Rincón, resulting in a solid anchoring couple with great on-air chemistry. With Carmen on board, Primer Impacto has rounded a team with real impact.”
