Univision Hits Record Ratings In Arizona.
September 29, 2002
English broadcast stations in Phoenix have lost a combined total market share of 21% since 1999 with Adults 18-34 in NSI. During the same period, Spanish television Univision KTVW-33, has increased it’s total market share by 11%. As general market television becomes ever more fragmented through increased cable and satellite viewing, Spanish language Univision has been able to consolidate it’s viewer base ever more. The state of Arizona is 25% Hispanic and Nielsen estimates that over half of Arizona’s Hispanics are Spanish Dominant.
This consolidation of viewing on Spanish television as the general market broadcast stations continue to fragment has given KTVW-33 impressive NSI ratings lately. In July 2002, KTVW more than doubled any other station in the market with Adults 18-34 in M-Su 6A-2A ratings. KTVW tied KTVK for #1 in all week ratings with Adults 18-49 — both earning a 2.0 rating.
