Univision 41 Numero Uno In NYC In 6pm News.

“Hooray, we’re number one!” That’s the shout today at Gotham’s premiere Spanish-language TV station, Univision 41 (WXTV) today as its 6 pm local newscast finishes first in New York’s six-way local news ratings race for the first time ever. The first, a record for Univision 41, is also a record for Spanish-language TV in New York. Never before has a Spanish-language TV station’s local newscast won the hotly competitive household ratings race against stiff competition from major English-language network-owned stations.

With a record high 5.7 Nielsen Station Index (NSI) rating and 11 share, Univision 41’s 6 pm “Noticias 41” yesterday (Monday, September 23) with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller, notched its highest overnight rating ever, eclipsing the 5.6 NSI it scored on October 5, 2001. “Noticias 41” tied “NewsChannel 4” on WNBC Channel 4 for first place 6 pm to 6:30 pm, the highest rank ever scored by a Spanish-language TV news program in New York.

Each New York Nielsen Station Index rating point represents 72,823.2 TV households.
