Telemundo 13 & 65 Official Station @ New Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Grand Opening.

Telemundo 13/65 and the New Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame have joined together to cover the events scheduled for the Grand Opening of the sports museum on September 27th and 28th in Springfield, Massachusetts. Telemundo 13/65 will provide exclusive Spanish language coverage of the Enshrinement Ceremony, the Grand Opening Ceremony, and Saturday’s Fan Festival.

The legendary Earvin “Magic” Johnson, along with other members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2002, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during the Enshrinement Ceremony at the Springfield Civic Center. Johnson will be presented by 1998 Enshrinee, Larry Bird. In addition to providing extensive coverage of the grand opening activities, Telemundo 13/65 will bring Andres Cantor to the opening ceremonies and to meet fans and sign autographs. Cantor is the principal announcer and sportscaster of the Telemundo Network, better known for his famous “Goool” throughout the sports world. Mr. Cantor has earned international recognition of his work covering 5 World Cups and 2 European Cups and received the Sports Personality of the Year award from the American Sportscaster Association in 1994. Andres Cantor won an Emmy for his individual achievement during the play-by-play of the World Cup in ’94.

“The opportunity to be part of this national event at a local level has special significance now that Telemundo and the NBA have joined together to broadcast 15 regular season NBA games live in Spanish beginning in November for the next three seasons, says William R. Newton, General Manager at Telemundo 13/65 in Hartford/Springfield.
