LatinoAZ @ AZ-TV.
August 9, 2002
Produced by MegaHertZ Mediaworks, LatinoAZ is a weekly program with a focus on the Latino experience. It will present themes that reinforce Latino contributions, and highlight people making a difference in business, entertainment, sports, education, politics, health and the arts.
“LatinoAZ was created to be a voice, a mirror, a showcase of life and traditions of Hispanic culture,” said Jesus Hernandez, Executive Producer. “We created LatinoAZ because we believe it is an idea whose time has come. We felt the need to reach bilingual, bicultural Latinos and their families with positive images of our Latino cultures.”
Hernandez, a former CBS broadcast journalist, is also President/CEO of MegaHertZ Mediaworks, a Phoenix-based marketing and media production firm. The inaugural half-hour edition will feature the Cuban experience on Cuba and in Arizona.
“LatinoAZ’s coverage of the Latino community will reflect the beauty of our diversity” said Ruben Hernandez, an award-winning, former print journalist and a producer for LatinoAZ.
The premiere show coincides with the national celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
“LatinoAZ’s launch with Hispanic Heritage month is appropriate because our show will present the many contributions Hispanics have made to U.S. history and culture,” said Teresa Santiago, Marketing Director for LatinoAZ.
Future episodes will reflect the wide variety of Hispanic life, issues, personalities, entertainment and art.
MegaHertZ Mediaworks also plans to produce a series of National Hispanic Heritage vignettes titled, “Experience the Legacy,” that will showcase Hispanic people and organizations, with a special emphasis on historical and cultural events, Santiago said.
Jesus Hernandez is host of “LatinoAZ” with contributions from Jim Ryerson, an L.A.-based Producer; Bobbi Cerda, West Coast Correspondent; and Reyna Melendez, Assistant Producer and Reporter in Arizona.
