WNJU-TV Telemundo Breaks Ratings Records.

Telemundo’s owned and operated station WNJU-TV Channel 47, continued to be the market leader in growth by setting new ratings records and earning the #1 spot in key programs in the recently concluded July’02 sweep period (7/11-8/7/02) according to the Nielsen Hispanic Station Index (NHSI).

For the first time in the station’s history, Telemundo became the #1 Spanish-language station at 10PM with the acclaimed novela “El Clon” (M-F 10PM-11PM), beating competitor Univisión by 16% and Telefutura by a staggering 566%. “El Clon”, additionally, become the second highest rated novela in the history of the station (19.3 HH Rtg), second only to “Betty La Fea’s” record set in February 2001 (19.5 HH Rtg). Overall, WNJU-TV increased its primetime (M-F 7PM-11PM) household ratings by an amazing 47% compared to last July, and advanced its share of Spanish-language household viewership in this critical daypart from a 32% one year ago to a current 39% share.

WNJU-TV was also the #1 Spanish-language station in early fringe (M-F 4PM-6PM) for the second consecutive sweep period. Specifically, “Laura” (M-F 4PM-5PM) continued to be the #1 show in the time period, a title held uninterrupted for the last five major sweeps. “Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste” (M-F 5PM-6PM), which quickly became the #1 program since its debut this past May’02, also retained #1 status in the current sweep.

In weekday afternoons, WNJU-TV added “Sala de Parejas” (M-F 2PM-3PM) to its #1 ranking list for the first time ever. Additionally, “La Corte de la Familia” (M-F 3PM-3:30PM) delivered its highest ratings yet, setting a new rating record for the station in the time period.
