Univision Network Nominated For Two National Emmy Awards.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that the Univision Network has been nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) for two prestigious News and Documentary Emmy Awards.

“Aqui y Ahora” has been nominated in the “Outstanding Interview” category, for its coverage of “Peru Undecided,” in which anchor Jorge Ramos conducted exclusive and hard-hitting personal interviews with Peru’s presidential candidates. “Primer Impacto” has been nominated for “Outstanding Background/Analysis of a Single Current Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast” for its segment titled “Deadly Call,” in which reporter Ricardo Arambarri delved into the tragic situation surrounding a woman’s 911 call when her car fell down a river bank. Arambarri explained, step-by-step, how viewers should react if faced with similar circumstances. Both newsmagazines are highly rated programs on the Univision Network.

Univision made history in 1998 as the first Spanish-language network to be nominated for and win a national Emmy award. Its highly rated network newscast, “Noticiero Univision,” received two Emmy awards for its comprehensive coverage of Hurricane Mitch: “Outstanding Instant Coverage of a News Story — Programs” and “Outstanding Instant Coverage of a News Story in a Regularly Scheduled Newscast — Segments.”

NATAS will announce the winners of the National News and Documentary Emmy Awards as part of a series of events titled “9/11 to 9/11: A Tribute to News Professionals” at a ceremony in New York City on Tuesday, September 10, 2002.
