Univision’s Mexico-USA Game The Most-Watched Sporting Event In History Of U.S. Spanish-Language TV.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that the Univision Network scored the defining goal in the history of Spanish-language television with its 2:15 a.m. EST/11:15 p.m. PST broadcast of Mexico vs. U.S.A. on Monday, June 17, delivering 4.2 million viewers, the highest viewership ever for any Spanish-language sports telecast among Men, Women and Adults 18-34 and 18-49.

Univision’s broadcast also delivered 42% more Total Viewers than ESPN’s competing broadcast.

Stronger than a Pele bicycle kick, Univision’s broadcast also drew more Hispanic viewers than all sporting events broadcast year-to-date, including the 2002 Super Bowl and all NBA final games, among the key demographic groups of Men, Women and Adults 18-34 and 18-49. Highlights from NHTI, the Nielsen Hispanic Television Index, show
that:

– Univision’s live national broadcast of Mexico versus the U.S.A. delivered +42% more Total Viewers — Hispanics and
non-Hispanics, +27% more Adults 18-34, +31% more Adults 18-49 and +36% more Adults 25-54 than ESPN’s competing live
broadcast.

– Univision’s broadcast delivered the largest Hispanic audience of any Spanish-language sports telecast ever, even
outdelivering the final games of the 1994 and 1998 World Cup tournaments, among the key demographic groups of Men, Women
and Adults 18-34 and 18-49.

Since the start of the tournament, the number of unique users visiting Univision.com’s World Cup coverage increased by more than 800%.

Univision.com’s World Cup coverage is currently garnering more than 400,000 unique users each week. In comparison, the number of weekly unique visitors on the official FIFA World Cup site, hosted by Yahoo — which reflects aggregate traffic to its World Cup websites in seven different languages — was approximately 527,000 for the week ending June 2.
