Luis Fernandez-Rocha – VP GM @ Univision WLTV & TeleFutura Station WAMI In Miami.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that Luis Fernandez-Rocha has joined Univision as General Manager of Univision station WLTV-Miami, Channel 23, and the new TeleFutura station WAMI-Miami, Channel 69, effective immediately.
Fernandez-Rocha has more than 16 years experience in Spanish-language media and most recently served as Vice President and General Manager of Telemundo’s owned-and-operated Miami station, WSCV, Channel 51. Fernandez-Rocha will remain based in Miami and will report to Thomas M. Arnost and Mike Wortsman, Co-Presidents of the Univision/TeleFutura Station Group.

Fernandez-Rocha began his career in Miami in 1986 as traffic manager at Zubi Advertising, one of the largest Hispanic advertising agencies in the United States. In 1989, Fernandez-Rocha joined Spanish Broadcasting Systems affiliate WCMQ AM/FM as an account executive. In 1992, Fernandez-Rocha became an Account Executive at WLTV, Channel 23, the Univision affiliate in Miami. Later that year, Fernandez-Rocha joined Telemundo affiliate WSCV, Channel 51 in Miami and was named Local Sales Manager. In 1993, Fernandez-Rocha joined KTMD, Telemundo’s Houston, Texas station as General Sales Manager and was shortly promoted to Vice President and General Manager. In 1998, Fernandez-Rocha returned to Miami as Vice President and General Manager of WSCV.
Fernandez-Rocha currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, the Board of Directors of FACE (Facts About Cuban Exiles); as well as the Advisory Board of the Ford Salute to Education and the Hispanic Development Center. Fernandez-Rocha’s dedication to his community has continued since his return to Florida and he remains active in a myriad of local and state organizations. Fernandez-Rocha is a graduate of the University of Miami with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and resides in Miami with his wife Lisette and four children.
