Noticias Univision – Grito de Gol.

With just three days before the long-awaited kick-off of the FIFA 2002 World Cup Korea Japan, Noticias Univision presents “Grito de Gol,” next Tuesday, May 28th at 10 PM/9 Central. This special report, hosted by Univision Network’s news anchor and award?winning journalist Jorge Ramos, a great soccer fan himself, will look at the detailed planning and extraordinary safety precautions that are being implemented to protect the thousands of fans who will travel from around the world to take part in this prestigious, wildly popular sports event.

“Grito de Gol” focuses on the great passion of soccer fans worldwide, and the positive and negative consequences that accompany this sport. The program explores the extremes fans are willing to go to in support of their favorite teams; some risk their marriages, others risk their life savings and, in some cases, their unbridled fanaticism and ardor turns to violence during the games’ most heated moments.

While traveling to soccer fields in México, the United States and Korea, Jorge Ramos gives viewers an in-depth look at the world’s two greatest living male soccer stars, Edson Arantes do Nacimiento – Pelé – and Diego Maradona. Additionally, the results of a Univision.com survey (Uniclave “Copa del Mundo”) will reveal which of these two soccer idols, Pelé or Maradona, is regarded as the best soccer player in history. This show will also bring viewers a surprise encounter between two aspiring young soccer players whose dream literally comes true when they face one of the greatest female soccer pros in the world in person.

The FIFA 2002 World Cup Korea/Japan will take place between May 31 and June 30, and the Univision Networks will provide the most complete broadcast coverage of these games.
