Telemundo’s ‘ Billboard Latin Music Awards 2002’ Wins Record Performance.

Telemundo Network’s 4th annual broadcast of the “Billboard Latin Music Awards 2002” (Sunday May 12th 8-11:30PM) delivered an outstanding performance as a record 1.8 million viewers, that is an additional half a million more viewers compared to last year’s broadcast, tuned-in to watch the premiere line-up of Latin music artists and entertainers.
Telemundo’s production of “Billboard Latin Music Awards 2002”, honoring the top Latin artists of the year, set new record ratings in every major demographic. The event delivered an all-time high 10.6 household rating, a 16% increase over last year’s performance, which translates to nearly 1.1 million homes. Among adults 18-49, advertiser’s key demographic, the
program attracted a record of 903,000 viewers, a significant increase of 24% over last year’s delivery. In fact, Telemundo has delivered uninterrupted growth in all key demographics compared to prior broadcasts.
In the top Hispanic markets, the “Billboard Latin Music Awards 2002” also delivered a winning performance. In New York and Miami, the event was the #1 program in Sunday primetime, beating competitors Univision and Telefutura combined by a significant 22% and 54% margin, respectively. In New York the event attained a 21.9 HH rtg and in Miami a 25.8 HH rtg – both record highs for the gala event. Furthermore, in Miami the program was the #1 show regardless of language, beating all English and Spanish primetime shows. And in Los Angeles, the broadcast of the biggest night in Latin music also set a new all-time high delivery by earning a 13.6 HH rtg, boosting last year’s performance by a remarkable 40%.
