Yahoo! en Español, United Airlines and the Association for Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) have joined forces to bring the excitement of the 2002 FIFA World Cup™ to members of the Hispanic advertising industry through a special online promotion that kicked off this week. Employees of Hispanic advertising agencies who are AHAA members, can log onto ( http://saitama.espanol.yahoo.com) and register once to win an all-expense-paid trip for two to the World Cup semi-finals in Saitama, Japan. Winners will be chosen at random on May 15, 2002.
“We want to bring the excitement of the World Cup to soccer fans in the advertising industry,” said Liz Sarachek, director of sales for Yahoo! en Español. “Yahoo! is proud to be the official producer, marketer and commercial operator of FIFAworldcup.com and we want to make sure our colleagues in the industry have a chance to join in the fun.”
“As a global airline serving five continents, we see that this World Cup will be the first truly Internet tournament as fans around the globe and especially in Latin America log on to get the latest information,” said Guillermo Gorrone, marketing manager for United Airlines for Latin America. ” The worldwide appeal of soccer makes our sponsorship of FIFAworldcup.com a natural fit for United Airlines.”
“AHAA is delighted to be part of this promotion, giving our members a chance to experience the World Cup semi-finals first hand,” said Ingrid Otero-Smart, president Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies. “The advertising industry has always played a key role in the success of events such as the FIFA World Cup. This promotion now gives them a chance to enjoy the results of all their hard work”.
