Univision 41 ‘NOTICIAS’ Doubles.
March 1, 2002
Ratings for Spanish-language TV in New York have soared — in some cases by more than 100%. For example, there are huge gains for each and every weekday news program shown by Univision 41 (WXTV). Nowhere is this more apparent than in news programming, where the Univision station beat CBS-owned WCBS-TV Channel 2 in many news races:
* Compared to a year ago, the 6 am to 7 am “Noticias 41 al Despertar” on Univision 41 is up by 120 percent to 1.1/4 NSI for March 2002 from 0.5/2 in March 2001.
* Univision’s breakfast news program, “Despierta America,” seen locally from 7 am to 10 am scored 1.4/4 in the March 2002 survey, up 100% from the 0.7/2 it scored a year ago and handily beating the 0.9/2 scored by the “CBS Early Show” on WCBS/2.
* Univision 41’s 5 pm news magazine, “Primer Impacto,” scores 2.9/6, up 58% from the 1.8/4 it scored in March 2001 and took third place in Gotham’s 5 pm news race away from WCBS/2.
* Univision 41’s 6 pm local news, “Noticias 41” with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller scored 3.4/6 NSI, up 42% from the 2.4/4 it scored in March 2001, and took third place in Gotham’s 6 pm news race from WCBS/2, which scored 3.2/6.
* The 11 pm “Noticias 41” with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller soared 63% in the past year to score 3.1/6, up from 1.9/3.
Each New York Nielsen Station Index rating point represents 73,010.6 TV households.
