López Negrete – President’s Advisory Committee On The Arts @ JFK Center.

Alex López Negrete, president of Houston-based López Negrete Communications, was recently appointed by President George W. Bush to the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Members of this advisory committee are civic and cultural leaders who are selected by the President to serve as “Ambassadors for the Arts” for the Kennedy Center in their home states and communities. As a member, López Negrete will help the Kennedy Center fulfill its mission as the nation’s performing arts center and further its image and reputation around the world; promote the Kennedy Center, its excellence in the arts, and its commitment to arts education around the country; and bring news of the Kennedy Center and opportunities for involvement to artists, schools, and children in Texas.

“We consider the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts to be one of our most important advisory boards serving the Kennedy Center. This is why we are delighted and honored to have Mr. López Negrete’s unique perspective, talent and passion to champion for the performing arts and arts education,” said Michael M. Kaiser, president of the John F. Kennedy Center.

“I’m moved, honored, and proud to be part of our country’s most prestigious and leading arts organization,” said López Negrete. “I am humbled by the appointment, but embrace the opportunity to strengthen the Center’s influence and spread its artistic vision and education programs across Houston and throughout Texas.”

In 1971, the dream of Americas’ national cultural center became a reality with the opening of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The Center was based on President Kennedys’ belief in the value of the performing arts. Each year, it presents more than 3,100 performances for nearly two million attendees, and reaches out to more than 6 million people nationwide through innovative and effective education programs, which have become models for communities across the country.
