Entravision Launches Univision 41 KNRV @ Reno, Nevada.

Entravision Communications Corporation announced the launch of KNRV Channel 41, serving Reno, Nevada. KNRV, a UHF television station covering the Reno, NV market, will broadcast Univision’s number one rated Spanish-language programming. The station will launch November 1, 2001. The launch of KNRV creates cross-promotional, multi-platform sales opportunities for Entravision when joined with the company’s existing radio station, KRNV-FM 101.7, and marks the 10th market where Entravision owns both television and radio properties. Entravision also announced Viola Cody has been appointed General Manager for both KNRV and KRNV-FM 101.7.

Reno is the 48th largest Hispanic household market out of Nielsen’s 210 measured markets. Reno’s Hispanic television households have also increased nearly ten times the rate of non-Hispanic television households. Additionally, Hispanic consumers in the Reno market have an average household income of approximately $50,000, totaling $1.3 billion in buying power.

Walter F. Ulloa, Chairman and CEO of Entravision, commented, “This launch is in line with Entravision’s commitment to expand its asset base in the fastest growing Hispanic communities and in markets where we currently have an established broadcasting voice. When coupled with our radio station KRNV-FM 101.7, we have created a compelling and effective cross-media platform for advertisers to reach Hispanic consumers in this rapidly expanding market.”

“Additionally, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Viola Cody to Entravision’s team of experienced General Managers. Ms. Cody brings to Entravision twenty years of experience in both the radio and television broadcasting industries. Her ability to generate increased local advertising sales and knowledge of locally produced news programming will be an asset as we focus on expanding the presence of both our radio and television stations in the growing Reno market.”

Viola Cody has spent the last decade working for a number of Reno-based television and radio broadcasters. Prior to joining Entravision, Ms. Cody served as Sales Manager for Lotus Radio KOZZ and KPTT. There, she is credited with increasing local direct sales by $100,000 each year and increasing regional account billing by 40% from 2000-2001. Ms. Cody has also worked in the advertising sales departments at Americom Broadcasting’s KODS, Olympic Broadcasting’s KKOH and NBC Affiliate KRNV-TV. In addition to her positions at various broadcasting companies, Ms. Cody was recently inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame and was named the Montana Broadcaster of the Year in 1984 and 1985.
