Fútbol De Primera Clears Stations For 2002 FIFA.

Fútbol de Primera announced that 100 stations have signed contracts to carry Fútbol de Primera’s soccer programming and its exclusive Spanish language radio coverage of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Fútbol de Primera also announced that Mexican soccer legend Carlos Hermosillo has agreed to join the Spanish-language radio network’s World Cup team. As a player for Mexico in both the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, Hermosillo will bring his extensive experience and insider’s knowledge of the team to Fútbol de Primera’s coverage of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Recently Javier Aguirre, the current coach of Mexico’s National Team, joined Fútbol de Primera’s World Cup team. As the most respected coach in Mexican soccer today, Aguirre’s exclusive long-term commitment with Fútbol de Primera not only has excited Mexican soccer fans, but has also added another top-quality personality to the network’s impressive list of commentators. In addition to his role as an on-air analyst, he also reaches out to Fútbol de Primera’s audience in a weekly hour long special that will air through the end of 2002.

Hermosillo and Aguirre join other notable members of Fútbol de Primera’s World Cup team, which already includes Bora Milutinovic, who led China to their first ever World Cup qualification last weekend and will coach in his fifth consecutive World Cup next year; Carlos Bilardo, World Cup Champion coach of Argentina in 1986; and Steve Sampson, former U.S. World Cup coach. Andres Cantor, who will broadcast the play-by-play of his fourth World Cup next year on the Fútbol de Primera Radio Network, will lead this team of famed soccer personalities and journalists during the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
