La Opinión Posts Circulation Increases.

La Opinión posted an increase in paid circulation for the sixth-straight reporting period, continuing a three-year trend in both its daily and weekend editions. Daily (Monday – Friday) circulation was 127,576, according to the September 2001 Audit Bureau of Circulation’s (ABC) Publisher’s Statement for the period ending September 30 as filed with ABC, marking a 9 percent year-over-year increase. Saturday circulation was 103,761 and Sunday was 77,907, 6 percent and 8 percent year-over-year increases, respectively. Since the last ABC reporting period of March 2001, La Opinión’s daily circulation increased 8 percent. In addition, its Saturday circulation jumped 6 percent since March, while Sunday circulation increased by 9 percent.

La Opinión’s continually strong performance in circulation growth places it as the second-most read daily newspaper in the Los Angeles market, according to the 2001 Gallup Media Study – Los Angeles Market.

“This year marks our 75th anniversary and it’s great news that we continue to broaden our audience while sustaining the loyalty of established readers,” said Jose Lozano, publisher and chief executive officer of La Opinión. “Maintaining a rate of growth that is clearly above the industry standard is truly impressive and exciting. It continues to reinforce our message that La Opinion is the best vehicle for advertisers to meet their marketing needs in the largest Hispanic market in the U.S.”

“Our highly-focused marketing program continues to remain our strength, as evidenced by our rising numbers,” explains Bob Karcher, director of circulation for La Opinión. “We’ve taken advantage of the phenomenal growth in the Hispanic population by providing our readers and our advertisers with a great product that is beneficial to both.”
