HBC & MSNBC.com In Content Venture.

MSNBC.com and Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation have entered into a content sharing agreement that incorporates Spanish language local news content into the MSNBC.com affiliate network of Web sites. This agreement marks MSNBC.com’s first Spanish language partner and the first radio network to join the MSNBC.com affiliate network at www.local.msnbc.com.

“The deal with www.netmio.com, Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation’s Web property, gives MSNBC.com an opportunity to uniquely meet the needs of our growing Spanish language audience,” said Haller. “The additional content will go beyond translating MSNBC.com’s top stories into Spanish and will focus on a range of issues relevant to local Hispanic communities.”

“We are delighted to be affiliated with the leading news site on the Web to help develop our brand and extend the reach of our Spanish language content,” said Lawrence Arevalo, Netmio.com’s Managing Director. “We believe the targeted local focus of Netmio.com is a perfect fit to providing culturally relevant news articles in the top Hispanic markets we serve.”

Under terms of the agreement, MSNBC.com will provide links and drive traffic to content from the Netmio.com web sites as well as provide for increased promotion of the local brands on co-branded pages. In return, MSNBC.com will get selected local Spanish language news stories from 10 of the top 11 Hispanic markets including: Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, McAllen/Brownsville, TX, Miami, New York, San Antonio, San Diego, and San Francisco. Netmio.com will also provide promotion and links from their Web sites to the MSNBC.com home page.

As a partner in the affiliate network, Netmio.com will give more in-depth, localized content to MSNBC.com users and increase the reach and brand for the local provider. The MSNBC.com affiliate network provides local news content for 88% of U.S. households and generates approximately 3.4 million unique users monthly, according to internal measurements.
