September 9, 2001
mun2 televisión will launch on October 10 at 7PM with entertainment program FuZion, followed by CHAT, the new voice for young Hispanics, and culminating with a special program celebration set at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk and featuring spectacular performances by some of the hottest young Latin artists in the music industry including popular groups Aterciopelados, MDO, Big Boy, Tommy Torres and Yaire.
mun2 televisión targets this highly demanding audience with hip and authentic programming packed with dynamic personalities and fresh faces never before seen in U.S. Spanish language television. Its weekday schedule includes two prime time live original productions: FuZion offers the latest and best in entertainment, music and film with a fun format and authentic content with an edge, for a program unlike any other, where even the technical crew is part of the show, and CHAT, the first talk show to provide a forum for young Hispanics, features lively, provocative discussion on youth topics of the day with viewers calling in and emailing their points of view.
Music, a language that crosses any border, will be heavily featured in a network that speaks to young Latinos, broadcasting five music programs including: Planeta Rock, which will focus its high beams on Rock in Spanish; Padrísimo introduces viewers to the latest in Tex-Mex and regional Mexican music; UpBeat gives viewers a VIP pass into the hottest clubs and dance music from around the world; JAMZ features breaking music news; and Música Si showcases live performances from the biggest names in the music industry.
The line-up continues with a game show titled Mejores Amigos, where best friends find out just how well they know each other. Co-Cine combines cooking with movie going, with its eclectic hosts giving viewers pointers on how to prepare a particular meal as they watch a movie, and finally comedy show Rompeportones/Petardos offers viewers an entire hour of humorous gags and situational absurdities, all performed by a talented troupe of Argentinean comedians who are not scared to mock the institutions and people around them.
Viewers will also be treated to fresh dramatic programming including Enamorarte, set at a school for the arts where teens struggle to make their dreams come true. Teens also tackle the issues that make today’s headlines in New Wave, a Brazilian half-hour series set in a high school gym.
mun2 televisión offers weekend viewers Sabía Usted, which features beautiful Venezuelan host Elena Toledo traveling throughout the world to spotlight the most unusual and incredible customs and cultures. Hollywood en Acción features the latest movie news and gives host Maria Salas’ film criticism. The unsolved mysteries of human experience are the focus of Grandes Enigmas del Mundo. Thunderbox is a sports show like no other, combining heavy weight boxing, dance, competition and sexy male and female models. The network also features a variety show titled El Gordo de la Semana, where viewers can enjoy live from the Dominican Republic, two hours of Latin humor, hosted by Freddy Beras Goico.
“We will fill a gap in Spanish-language television, offering young Hispanics a new entertainment alternative that celebrates their diversity and truly reflects their lifestyle with a unique programming line-up that’s informal, fresh, different and daring,” said Manuel Abud, President of Telemundo Cable.
