In an effort to position the University of Southern California Trojans football team, each of the Trojans’ 11 regular season games will be broadcast in Spanish on 1090AM la Gigante in Los Angeles. This is the second year 1090AM will carry USC football games that in addition to The Anaheim Angels Baseball broadcast. The broadcasts will feature a team of Hispanic broadcasters with more than a decade of experience calling the action of both collegiate and professional football games.

On Friday, August 31, a special eight-page Trojan season preview section was inserted into all 150,000 editions of La Opinion. This section will gave fans insight into the 2001 Trojan football team, information on how to follow the game of football and a history of the University of Southern California.

USC has a rich tradition of educating Hispanic students and is also the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. One graduate and former Trojan football star, Anthony Munoz, is the only Hispanic ever inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

The broadcasts will be produced by Radio Deportes and are available for affordable advertising opportunities and to be picked-up by radio stations serving other markets. This season, the Trojans will take on leading opponents Arizona and Arizona State, UC Berkeley and Stanford, Kansas State, Oregon and Oregon State, Washington and the annual classic rivalry with Notre Dame.
