KVEA-TV In LA & The Telemundo Network Premiere Their Prime-Time Novela.
June 16, 2001
KVEA-TV in Los Angeles and the Telemundo Network, will premiere their prime-time novela, Brazil’s TV Globo produced *Uga Uga,* in August.
The title of this ingenious telenovela is a clue that prepares us for a special treat. Reminiscent of the classic jungle book stories, *Uga Uga,* unites a white boy raised among Indians in the Amazon jungle, with a fugitive man who faked his own death.
The boys return to the world of civilization, now a grown man, and the mans resurrection from his presumed death, gives way to the most bizarre and dangerous situations loaded with humor and fast action.
Claudio Henreich, the wildest leading man alive, plays the protagonist of *Uga Uga.*
He is certainly meant to appeal to women with his bare bronze chest, loincloth, and long blond hair. His naivete is refreshing in a telenovela since they usually feature tyrannical macho men.
KVEA Channel 52, is sure to garner the female audience in Los Angeles during prime-time. Currently, KVEA-TV and KMEX-TV each have a 60/40 split of women and men sign-on to sign-off. Viewer profiles of both stations show they share other similarities as well. 17% of KVEA’s audience has an annual income of $45,000-$75,000 per year compared to 19% for KMEX.
During the important prime-time period, KVEA’s audience consists of 64% women, 25-34 years of age, married, and a high school graduate.
