KVEA-TV Channel 52 Wins Two Emmys Including ‘Best Daily News’.

KVEA-TV Channel 52 won the Emmy Award for “Best Regularly Scheduled Newscast” Award along with an additional Emmy statue for “Live Coverage of an Unscheduled News Event,” at this years Emmy Award Ceremony held on Saturday, June 24th at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
KVEA-TV, the Los Angeles O&O for Telemundo, was honored for “Best Regularly Scheduled Newscast” for their 11PM news, airing in direct competition with all television stations in Los Angeles.
KVEA’s report “Building Collapse” won for “Live Coverage of an unscheduled News Event” category and further demonstrated KVEA’s constant rise in garnering viewers and creating a level playing field within a highly competitive general market environment.
“This kind of recognition is very telling of what viewers are looking for in a newscast. This is the best thing that has happened to Spanish news in a long time. I’m very proud of everyone,” exclaimed Vice President and General Manager Fernando Lopez. “The general market should expect to see a shift that will continue growing in markets like Los Angeles where the adjustment will favor Spanish language news and where we can expect it to be ours” he added.
KVEA Channel 52 is a full power television station serving over 5 million viewers in Los Angeles. Telemundo is the fastest growing Spanish Television network in the U.S. with a 30% market share, and nine owned and operated stations in the US. Its recent merger with KWHY-TV Los Angeles gave Telemundo a 40% share of the L.A. market and created the first Spanish television station duopoly in the U.S.
