KMEX-TV’S ‘Noticias 34’ Takes Home Two Emmys.

A total of two Emmys were awarded to KMEX-TV, Channel and its local newscast, “Noticias 34” last night during the 2001 Los Angeles Emmy Awards, which were presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The ceremony was held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California.
In a major upset, KMEX-TV’s Tournament of Roses Parade production team captured its first Emmy in the “Best Live Special Event” category over KTLA for its coverage of the New Year’s Day spectacular entitled “Celebración 2000” [Celebration 2000]. KMEX-TV’s transmission of the floral extravaganza aired in January 2000 and was presented by Univision national morning show host Ana Maria Canseco (from Despierta América) and Colombian actor Harry Geithner.
KMEX-TV’s second Emmy was in the “Outstanding Non-News Director” given to Eduardo Kachscovsky for his work in the year 2000.
