Telemundo 47 Wins Emmy Award For Outstanding Single Newscast.

Telemundo 47 WNJU’s Noticiero-47 received an Emmy Award in the 44th annual New York Emmy Awards of The New York Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Science.
The pioneer Spanish TV Station of the N.Y. Metropolitan area was the winner in the Telemundo 47 Wins Emmy Award For Outstanding Single Newscast.restigious category of Outstanding Single Newscast, where it was in competition with WNBC Channel 4, Channel 2 News, WGRZ-TV, WNYW Fox-5. This was the fifth nomination for Noticiero 47 in the last six years.
The telecast that got the attention of the academy members was “Fire in Edgewater”,which aired on August 30, 2000 in the 11pm newscast: Ricardo Alvarez, News Director; Jorge Ramos and Carmen Dominicci, Anchors; Adhemar Montagne, Reporter; Gustavo Alonzo, Cameraman; Johanna Guerra, Executive Producer; Delines Batlle, Producer.
“It is nice to come out of the shadow, finally. Five years ago we didn’t have this telecast, and in less than a year we have launched two more editions of Noticiero 47; the 11:30 am and 6am newscasts”, said Ramón Pineda, Vice President and General Manager of WNJU-TV, while accepting the golden statuette.
The 44 Annual Emmy Award Gala was held on Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
