Terra announces New Chief Media Officer and New Chief Technology Officer.

As part of the company’s globalization and business development, Terra announced the promotion of the current Products Director, Luciane Aquino, as the new Chief Media Officer (CMO) and Rafael Kuhn as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

During her career at Terra, the new CMO was always part of strategic and innovative projects and was responsible for creating Terra’s news team in 1999. She was then promoted to Content Manager for Brazil, a position she held until 2004. Two years later, she was asked to return to Terra to create the Portal Products’ global team, and in August 2012 was named Director. In her new role, Luciane Aquino will lead Editorial, Terra TV, Content Alliances & Negotiation and Mobile & Social Media, as well as Portal Products.

“I want to continue with the solid legacy, always looking for innovation, which characterizes Terra and offering the best content for users along with the best digital experience,” said Aquino.

Luciane studied journalism at the Pontificia Universidad Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS) in Brazil, and has experience in other well-known newspapers in Brazil, such as “Zero Hora” and “Grupo RBS.” She holds an MBA in Business from FGV and is post-graduate in Communications and Digital Technology from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Working for Terra for 14 years, Rafael Kuhn was promoted to Chief Technology Officer and now is the head of all of the technology teams within the company. He studied Computer Science at PUC-RS and then a Masters in Information Systems at UFRGS, and holds an MBA from FGV. Kuhn started his career at Terra in 1999 as the Subscriber Development System Manager and in 2006, was named Technology Director.

“The CTO position represents many challenges: the need to continue working with the consolidation and simplification of technology platforms and to seek for optimal efficiency in order to make the Technology department an innovative area, facilitating and supporting the launch of new business,” adds Kuhn.

Paulo Castro, Terra’s Global CEO, celebrates the arrival of these new professionals. “They are executives who have demonstrated commitment to the company and without doubt, they are capable of integrating their knowledge to the new directions of the company,” said Castro.
