February 28, 2014
ESPN Deportes Nueva York 1050 AM announced an agreement with The New York Mets and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment to continue broadcasting Mets games in Spanish through the 2016 season.
Under the agreement, 1050 AM will broadcast 150 regular season games, and select Spring Training and postseason games. Coverage will also include pre/post-game shows for each game. ESPN Deportes Nueva York began broadcasting Mets games in Spanish last year.
“We are excited that ESPN Deportes Radio will continue to be the home of Mets for our Spanish-speaking fans,” said Mets COO Jeff Wilpon. “We look forward to strengthening our relationship with them through our partnerships with ESPN Deportes Radio and Clear Channel and presence on their assets that appeal to the Hispanic community in New York.”
“ESPN Deportes Radio is the perfect complement to our multi-asset partnership with The New York Mets and a great platform for the Spanish speaking audience,” said Joe Puglise, Market President for Clear Channel New York City. “We look forwarding to working closely with them to drive further awareness of the Mets.”
“We are excited to expand our alliance with the Mets and Clear Channel in a combined effort to better serve the passionate New York baseball fans,” said Traug Keller, senior vice president of production and business divisions for ESPN. “This agreement reinforces our commitment to continue presenting the most extensive lineup of live sports events that are locally relevant to the Hispanic community in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.”
