Tecate & Tecate Light partner Cuauhtémoc Blanco on launch of “Bold Legends of the Game”

Tecate and Tecate Light announced the launch of their national summer retail campaign “Bold Legends of the Game,” which will celebrate soccer fans 21+ who have made legendary sacrifices in order to watch their favorite soccer team. Additionally, the brand will help consumers host the ultimate viewing party through various promotions and prizes. The English- and Spanish- language program will feature Mexican soccer legend Cuauhtémoc Blanco in an augmented reality experience for consumers, available now through July 31.
“Soccer takes over conversations, both in face-to-face interactions and on social media. With this program Tecate will be part of the buzz at retail locations and in the digital space, allowing consumers to let their character and enthusiasm show leading up to and during the games in Brazil,” said Gustavo Guerra, brand director for Tecate. “We are particularly honored to once again work with Cuauhtémoc Blanco, one of Mexico’s legendary soccer players who embodies the boldness and carácter of Tecate.”
The “Bold Legends of the Game” campaign will feature a variety of elements including an augmented reality mobile application that will bring Cuauhtémoc to life when fans scan the iconic Tecate Eagle and trigger the augmented reality video. After watching Cuauhtémoc’s message, consumers 21+ will be able to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip for two to Brazil this summer to attend the most anticipated and prestigious soccer competition.
In addition, adults who enter the sweepstakes automatically qualify for weekly prizes including Tecate jerseys and soccer balls autographed by Cuauhtémoc, Tecate mini fridges, Tecate speakers and flat screen TVs. Tecate and Tecate Light will also work together with Barcel and el Jimador tequila on cross-merchandising offers for consumers and mass displays at retail.
