#MeAgarroElGol World Cup campaign

This fully integrated marketing effort, crafted specifically for the World Cup, included TV, digital and social elements, all utilizing the #MeAgarroElGol hashtag. The intent of the campaign was to capture the excitement and thrill of celebrating a goal during the World Cup. Anytime. Anywhere.

The #MeAgarroElGol campaign included many pieces of digital work, such as rich media banners, an interactive website, Facebook video ads, live tweeting during all Latin-relevant matches, a partnership with Univision where fans could compete in a bracket challenge, and exclusive content such as Twitter data visualizations.

The main Mundial TV spot of the campaign is a testament to what makes Verizon Wireless so alluring. As you may very well know, the World Cup has been marked as the ultimate multi-screen event for advertisers. With unmatched network service and fast Internet speeds across the board, Verizon Wireless is able to keep fans connected to the drama and emotion in Brazil.

A goal in soccer is a big deal. It’s even more momentous during the World Cup. Latinos who grew up loving fútbol know how high the stakes can be. The national rivalries are legendary. Memories are long. The action is constant, but goals are few and far between. And it’s not uncommon for a game to be won by a score of 1-0. Any moment could make or break the game, so the tension is high.

In many countries, all work stops for the games. In the U.S.—with only a nascent interest—everybody’s expected to keep working. Since the games are played during the nine-to-five, a fútbol fan must be clever. They must stay connected to the action of the game, prepared for the moment when the balance of power shifts. They must be ready for a goal at any moment—because you never know where a goal will catch you. This is the spirit of fútbol. When the stakes are this high, only Verizon’s superior network can keep you connected to the action, so you won’t miss that critical moment when there’s a “goooooool!”
