July 15, 2014
Beginning Monday, July 14, viewers of WAPA America will get to enjoy the Colombian telenovela “Rafael Orozco, El Ídolo” (The Idol)-the story of the famous vallenato singer and the mystery behind his untimely death. “Rafael Orozco, El Idolo” will air Monday through Friday at 7pm ET.
Based on the life of Rafael Orozco, the telenovela tells the story of the talented man who became an idol of the Colombian vallenato genre. From a young age, “Rafa” had a special talent for music; he moved and spoke with rhythm, and his charisma and musical talents made him especially irresistible to women. Clara, his one true love, inspired the beautifully romantic and sentimental lyrics that would make him famous.
It took nine shots to end the life of the man who touched the world with his unforgettable songs. The death of the legend was a great loss for the vallenato genre and “El Ídolo” reveals the unknown details of Orozco’s life, struggles, and love that influenced his music.
Colombian singer Alejandro Palacio and former Miss Colombia Taliana Vargas deliver outstanding performances in their interpretations of Rafael Orozco and Clara Cabello.
“Rafael Orozco, El Ídolo presents the best in Colombian drama, and is part of the wide variety of programming WAPA America offers for the Caribbean Hispanic community in the U.S.,” said Jimmy Arteaga, VP of Programming for WAPA America.
