López promoted to News Director at Telemundo 40

Telemundo 40 in McAllen, TX announced that Miguelángel López has been promoted to News Director. In this role, he will be responsible for the overall performance of the news department and all other local productions across multiple media platforms.

“We are excited for Miguelángel to take on this new role,” said Jose Flores, President and General Manager of Telemundo 40. “Miguelángel’s vast broadcast and production experience, particularly in Spanish-language news, makes him a perfect fit to lead our local news team.”

Most recently, López worked as the Executive Producer for Noticias Telemundo 40. In this role, he was instrumental in the launch of the new weekday local newscast at 4:30 PM and the growth of the overall newscast and news gathering efforts. Before this, López worked in various producer roles for Telemundo network. López is an award-winning journalist and a recipient of an Emmy award for his work on Telemundo’s morning news show, “Un Nuevo Dia.” A native of Puerto Rico, he currently resides in the Rio Grande Valley.

Earlier this year, Telemundo 40 launched a new half-hour local newscast at 4:30 PM and expanded its local news operation by launching live local news coverage weekdays at 10 PM, to better serve Spanish-language viewers in the Rio Grande Valley.
