Burson-Marsteller appoints Jorge Ortega EVP Managing Director of Agency’s Miami Office

Burson-Marsteller announced Jorge Ortega has joined the company as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the agency’s Miami office, which serves the Florida market and is the headquarters for Burson-Marsteller’s Latin America regional business. He will lead a multidisciplinary team of communications professionals supporting clients in brand communications, public and corporate affairs, reputation management, crisis response and digital strategies.  Ortega will provide strategic and creative counsel while helping clients leverage Burson-Marsteller’s suite of global services and diverse talent. This will be Ortega’s second term with Burson-Marsteller, where he began his career.

“We are thrilled to have Jorge back with us,” said Ramiro Prudencio, CEO of Burson-Marsteller Latin-America. “He brings a valuable combination of U.S. multicultural and international experience, with proven success across multiple industries and geographies. He is a great fit for our Miami office which serves not only Florida-based companies, but is a gateway for global companies looking to expand into Latin America, and Latin American companies interested in expanding into the U.S. It is also the headquarters for Burson Latino, our U.S. Hispanic communications offering.  Jorge has worked extensively across all of these areas.”

Ortega has broad experience in corporate and brand communications, issues and crisis management and expertise in Hispanic marketing. Prior to rejoining Burson-Marsteller, he was founder and managing partner of Newlink America, a Hispanic marketing and consulting firm he started in 2010.  Before that, Ortega served as president of JeffreyGroup.  He began his career in Burson-Marsteller’s New York office, later transitioning to the Latin America region where he served as general manager of Burson-Marsteller Mexico, and eventually regional chair for the Latin America brand communications practice and the firm’s U.S. Hispanic unit.

“Jorge also will be vital in expanding our U.S. Hispanic offering, Burson Latino,” said Michael Law, U.S. CEO, Burson-Marsteller. “His extensive experience with the U.S. Hispanic market will be invaluable to clients across all of our core practice areas, and will be essential as the 2016 U.S. presidential election draws near.”

“This is a tremendous opportunity to work with dynamic professionals from around the world to help clients take full advantage of the opportunities being created by a changing media landscape,” Ortega said. “Burson-Marsteller has unparalleled resources at the local and global levels, and I am very excited to return to the agency.”
