Gilberto Santa Rosa kicks off the 2015 Life @50+ celebrations

AARP, the nonprofit organization, hosted a concert prior to the Life @ 50+ event which will be taking place in Miami this year. Puerto Rican singer Gilberto Santa Rosa was in charge of energizing the night in a celebratory and joyful atmosphere.

The event focused on the importance of those who are caregivers of elderly or sick loved ones, an issue that is one of the pillar programs of AARP. During the night, Santa Rosa had the more than 200 attendees (in their majority AARP members) dancing to his world renowned songs. One of his most enthusiastically received tunes, titled “Conciencia” was dedicated to caregivers.

“It’s important that (people who take care of a family member) know that they don’t need to feel alone or overwhelmed. AARP offers help to enable them to fulfill their duties while still taking care of themselves,” said Santa Rosa.

The concert served as a prelude to the national Life @50+ conference, which will take place from May 14th – 16th at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The convention will offer a variety of workshops and activities that will emphasize the broad possibilities available to the community of people over 50 years of age.

After three days, Life @50+ will conclude with a concert in South Beach in which Jon Secada, Gloria Estefan and the incomparable Rita Moreno will perform. “Attendees of the Life @50+ event in Miami will discover everything AARP offers and all the possibilities at their disposal within five key areas: health and wellness, finance and labor, technology and innovation, travel, and lifestyles, “said Mónica Cortés-Torres, interim vice president of multicultural markets for AARP.
